Where Lapland, Norway
When 1968
Photographer George F. Mobley

"Relatively few of some 32,000 Lapps who live scattered across the arctic fringes of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, the rugged area known as Lapland, have ever followed the lonely life of the reindeer nomad. But those few have clung tenaciously to the customs of their forefathers, following their herds along migratory routes linking winter and summer pastures."

—Text from the National Geographic book Vanishing Peoples of the Earth, 1968
