Where Truxton, Arizona
When 1996
Photographer Vincent J. Musi

A diner booth in Truxton, a town located on historic Route 66, doesn’t see as many patrons as it once did. In the highway's heyday, Route 66 streamed with Dust Bowl fugitives, World War II supplies, hitchhiking GI's and post-war seekers of the California dream.

(Text adapted from and photo shot on assignment for, but not published in, "Romancing the Road," September 1997, National Geographic magazine)
