Where Green River Overlook, Canyonlands National Park, Utah
When 1991
Photographer Bruce Dale

A respite for Canyonlands travelers, these rocks overlook Green River, the Colorado River's main tributary in the park. The geologic formations are a result of erosion on the sedimentary rock over millions of years.

(Photograph shot on assignment for, but not published in, "John Wesley Powell: Vision for the West," April 1994, National Geographic magazine)
