Photographer Daniel R. Westergren

Although the canine character Lassie is portrayed as a female in movies and on television, she is played by a male. This Lassie is actually the seventh dog to play the role, which has spanned more than 50 years since the original movie, Lassie Come Home, was made in 1943.

(Photograph shot on assignment for, but not published in, "Stardom Hasn't Spoiled Lassie," September 1993, National Geographic World magazine)

Animal-Shaped Candles
These 3-D animals are appealingly realistic and reminiscent of shots you've seen in National Geographic. Each candle is individually sculpted and hand-painted. Only the inside melts, preserving the animal sculpture. Choose a lion, an elephant, or a giraffe!
