Explanaition of all Functions in Take A Guess

NOTE: For the following description we assume that you installed this game for the very first time. Also the control of this game is entirely done by inputs with the stylus.
The following graphics serve demonstration purposes only and can vary from what you see on your PalmOS device.

This is the Icon of Take A Guess that appears on your Palm OS Device after proper HotSync as described above.

After you start the Game the BOOT screen appears showing all steps of the game initialisation as shown in the picture on the left.

After the BOOT Procedure you will automatically be passed over to the MAIN MENU as shown in the picture on the left. You can select a menu option by a simple click on it with your stylus.

If you select the PLAY Option from the MAIN MENU you get to the Game Menu which is the heart of this game as seen in the picture (example) on the left.

On the top of the screen you see the Category Box which shows the Category that the word you have to guess has been chosen from.

Right below that is the Word Box which shows you the Word you have to guess. The underlines symbolize a hidden letter which to this point has not been guessed yet. In this case all letters of this word are hidden because we just started a new game.

The big box which is empty right now is the Animation Box which displays the current standings on the way to solve the word as an animated graphic.
On the right side of the Animation Box you have two seperate boxes.
The upper one is the Word Statistic Box which displays your current progress in solving the word as there are the TRIES left to solve the word and the UNSOLVED letters of the currently selected word.

The lower box is the Menu Box which contains aktive menu functions which you can choose during the game:

From left to right:

1) The Empty Sheet of Paper: A click on the icon gives you the option to resets all game statistics and the start of a new word.

2) The Red and Blue Arrows forming a circle: A click on this icon gives you the option to start a new word without resetting the game statistics.

3) Person behind bars: A click on this icon gives you the option to switch to the Main Menu of this game while saving your current game standings so you can resume the current game if you go back to the Game Menu. You could for example leave the game to the MAIN MENU enter the SETUP MENU make changes to the setup of this game and return and continue the game with the new changes.

4) File Cabinet: A click on this icon forwards you directly to the WORD DATABASE SELECTION (which is described further down in this section) where you can select/unselect your Word Databases for this game while playing a game. This is a great feature that shows one of the sophisticated features of the Word Database Engine.

5) Statistic Bars (explained in more detail further down in this section): A click on this icon shows your current game statistics which are only visible in the REGISTERED VERSION.

At the very bottom you have the Letter Pick Box from which you have to choose the letters you think are part of the Word you have to guess.
This is generally how you start a game by picking a letter that you think could be part of the word you have to guess.
After you picked a letter it will disappears form the Letter Pick Box to make it easier for you to keep track of the letters that are still available to be picked.

If you select the SETUP Option from the MAIN MENU you get to the SETUP MENU in which you can make global changes to the settings of this game.

A click on this button has no effect at all.

4) INFORMATION: If you click on the INFORMATION button a window opens with a more detailed description to the associated word database.

5) PREVIOUS: Since we update/add new word databases on a regular it happens that there is not enough room to show all available word databases in one screen. Because of that we added buttons for navigation that gives you the flexibility to browse through all available word databases. A click on this button displays the prior page of available word databases.

6) NEXT: The next button has the opposite function of the PREVIOUS button.A click on this button displays the next page of available word databases.
