Run the “Setup.exe” program on your PC and follow the instructions on-screen. ICBM II can be installed anywhere on your PocketPC, including a memory storage card.
Select “ICBM2” from the Today menu.
The game will start by showing the title, the hi-score table and three buttons:
Play - Starts the game
Options - Displays the game options
Exit - exit the game
The aim of the game is to protect your six cities from attack by incoming ICBMs and bombs.
You have three laser bases with a limited number of shots. To fire, touch the screen where you want to fire to and the nearest base with any power left will fire.
You can destroy several ICBMs or bombs with a carefully placed shot. Any ICBMs or bombs caught in a blast will be destroyed.
Bombs must be hit dead-on. If you are slightly off, the bomb will be bounced by the force of the blast, but will quickly re-acquire it's target
The game ends when you have no cities left
You can exit the game at any time by pressing the record button - this will not save your hi-score, if you have one
This shows the top ten high scores, along with the name of the player who achieved the score. The following symbols may be shown next to a score:
* - this was an enhanced game (see options, later)
E - this was on the easy setting
H - this was on the hard setting
Touching the options button will display the options menu:
Enhanced game - If this is not checked you will play ICBM classic, but with improved graphics and sound effects. If it is checked, you will play an enhanced game with powerups and clouds on later levels. However, the enhanced game is slightly harder to even things out!
Sound - When checked, sound effects are turned on
Re-entry heat - When checked, incoming ICBMs will show re-entry heat trails
Warning targets - When checked, any ICBMs or bombs at low altitude will have a
warning target appear around them
On an enhanced game, powerups will randomly come arcing across the screen. Shoot these to obtain the powerup:
Bonus city - Adds an extra city
Laser recharge - Tops up your remaining bases to full power
EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) - Destroys all incoming ICBMs, but not bombs
Shield - Gives each of your remaining cities a force shield which will repel one
missile or bomb
ICBM - 10 points
Bomb - 100 to 450 points
Plane or satellite - 100 to 450 points
When you have completed an attack wave, you will be given a bonus:
5 points for every shot remaining
100 + 10points/level for each city remaining
You will receive a bonus city (if one has been destroyed) for every 10,000 points achieved.
If you see a red battery symbol flashing on the screen, then your Pocket PC is runing low on power. You should exit the game or turn it off to avoid losing any other data.
