Introduction
All Smilies is a puzzle game for colour (only) Palm OS v3.5 and above PDAs. The aim of the game is to get all smilies the same colour, but beware as there are various special smilies waiting to upset your gameplay!
Playing the Game
Basic Play
To win the game you must change all smilies to the same colour. This is done by tapping two adjacent smilies, either horizontally or vertically, and if they are related by colour then the second smilie changes to match the first.
There seven basic smilie colours - red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple. There is also the special smilie colour of grey. The colours are related as follows:
- Red is related to purple and orange.
- Orange is related to red and yellow.
- Yellow is related to orange and green.
- Green is related to yellow and cyan.
- Cyan is related to green and blue.
- Blue is related to cyan and purple.
- Purple is related to blue and red.
- Grey is related to all colours.
As a reminder, this colour relationship is shown graphically in the game by the gameboard border.
Special Smilies
Additionally there are three types of special smilie:
- Mutants - these smilies will change colour at random until you change them to match with another smilie.
- Bombs - these smilies will explode when a match is attempted and change all the adjacent smilies to a random colour, while the exploding smilie goes grey.
- Splats - these smilies will burst when a match is attempted and change all the adjacent smilies to the same colour as themselves.
Game Types and Difficulty
There are three game types to play:
- Normal - change all the smilies to the same colour.
- Move Limit - change all the smilies to the same colour within the move limit, which decreases with the difficulty level.
- Target - change all the smilies to the same colour as chosen by the game.
All the games can be played at the three levels of difficulty - easy, medium, hard - and the number of special smilies increases with the difficulty level.
High Scores
To get onto the 'high score' tables you need to complete the game in as few moves as possible, and with the Move Limit game, before the number of moves you have available is used up. You will be placed higher in the rankings, the fewer moves you take to win the game.
