Background/Intro:
Crash N The Boyz: Street Challenge is a very fun game 
for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
It's about 5 high schools competing for the title of
...I guess best high school.
It has 5 events: 400 Meter Dash, Hammer Throw, Swimming,
Roof Top Jumping, and Fighting Scene.
The 5 high schools are:
1) Southside High 
2) Washington High
3) Lincoln High
4) Jefferson High
5) Thornley High
There are certain strategies to winning the events.
The winner is decided through how many events the person has won..
but MOST IMPORTANTLY,WHO HAS THE MOST MONEY AT THE END OF THE 
TOURNAMENT!!

-EVENTS-

1. 400 Meter Hurdle Jump
BEST CHOICE-Speedy Character

This is one of the funnest events in the game.  
You basically control your guy
by first tapping Foward on your control pad, 
and using the B and A buttons to do the following:

B BUTTON
*Jumps

A BUTTON
*Throws Hurdle piece while in the Air
*Picks up hurdle piece
*Rams
*Spins around while on the ground with hurdle piece

D-PAD
*Tap rapidly to move foward/slow down
(Right/Left)
*Slide
(Down)

Basically there are two ways of winning.  One is to win 
the race, as in get past the finish line first.  The 
other is by knockout, where you drain all your opponent's 
health.  The prior is much easier.  You have to jump, or 
ram through hurdles, and when you ram you can pick up a 
hurdle piece by pressing A.  When you have it, you can
do two things.  Spin around on the ground (affective at close range) 
or throw it while in the air.  To throw, you have to 
press B to jump, then press A.  To throw backwards, 
you have to press back while in the air, and then press A.

2. Hammer Throw
BEST CHOICE-Powerful character

I don't like this event much.  It relies too much on 
button mashing. The point of the game is to get to the 
finish line first in the least amount of throws.

B BUTTON
*Press Rapidly to charge up your throw

A BUTTON
*Release your hammer

That's all there is too it.  I usually just use 
Sonic Spin for this event during a normal tournament.  
It's a waste of time.

3. Swimming
BEST CHOICE-Well rounded, preferbly Speed and Defense.

This game is tedious, but fun.  It relies on a lot of things, 
and has many factors which can either earn your or deprive 
you of victory.

B BUTTON
*Get oxygen when you are out of the water
*Underwater-Punch in a grapple
*Underwater-Kick when out of grapple

A BUTTON
*Jump
*A Button plus Directional button-Jump to other lane
*I believe you can pull down the other person when they're 
out of the water with this, but that MIGHT be the B Button

DOWN BUTTON
*Go underwater

The difficulty of this game is high.  There is one 
way to win this, and that is to kill your opponent.  
To do this, you try to drown them.  You have to make 
sure their OXY level is zero underwater, and physically 
attack them.  They'll lose health that way. Jumping on 
an opponent will cause him to lose oxygen. You have 
to be conscious of your OXY level as well, so go above 
water and press B rapidly to intake oxygen.  
This is a tough game, so I usually buy a Chomper when at 
a normal game.  Hehehe.

4. Roof Top Jumping
BEST CHOICE-Speedy and powerful

This game is my second favorite.  I haven't figured 
out all the technicals of it yet, but it's very fun and 
addicting once you get into it. To move, CONTINUOUSLY press 
the Right button rapidly.  The point of the game is 
clear as many buildings as you can.

B BUTTON
*Pick up objects
*Use high jump pole
*Jump

A BUTTON
*Discard object
*Catch when near ledge of building

I haven't been able to use catch yet, but I believe 
the trick is once you've jumped and you're near a ledge, 
press A and you should latch onto it and pull yourself up.
There are two objects: A Unicycle and a High Jump Pole.  
You can ride Unicycles by pressing B when near them, and 
you should automatically pick them up.  You can ride them across
ropes and buildings. High Jump poles are used for jumping, 
short and far disctances. Pick them up using the same way, 
then when near the edge of a building, press B to use it.
If you hold the B button too long, you'll overdo the 
jump and you'll just smash into the ground.  
You have to time it right.  Very addicting.

5. Fighting Scene
BEST CHOICE-Leaders. Just..leaders (Well rounded, powerful, 
speedy, and defensive)

This originally was my favorite, but I seem to have 
lost my touch. Just kill your opponent in a street brawl.  
Not much brains required here.

B BUTTON
*Punch
*Grappling move
*Foward Foward (Dash) +B-Shoulder tackle

A BUTTON
*Kick
*Grappling move
*Foward Foward +A-Jump Kick

There are a lot of manuevers in this event. Basically 
this consists of a variety of grappling moves, and I 
believe each leader has their own special manuever which 
they use.  The two most noticeable are Crash' Fireball Slam 
and Todd's Lower the Boom Punch. They do massive damage.  
To get into a grapple, just get near the opponent, and to use 
a move rapidly press A or B and a Foward or Up/Down.  
Pressing back gets you out of the grapple.  There are two bars 
here, one is a Health bar (standard) and the other is
somewhat of an "energy" bar, which is used to determine 
who wins in a grapple.  You can lower the energy bar in 
grapples, or a more effective way is the dashing attacks listed
above, and then there's the standard punch/kick.  Health is 
lost through grapple moves. Just win by making the opponent 
lose their health.

As you can see, Lincoln is the most well rounded of all the schools.
I use them the most.

Hurdles-Baldy of Jefferson (so...slow...but a lot of HP)

Hammer Throw-Milo of Jefferson (54 Power?!)

Swimming-Zack of Washington (Just because)

Roof top Jumping-Baldy or Milo (Slow...slow...again...Milo..140 HP?!)

Fighting Scene-Milo (140 HP) or Noise of Southside (140 HP, LOW DEFENSE!)

-MY HONEST OPINION ON THE TEAMS-

*Southside:  Despite being the school of attention in this game, 
frankly...they suck.  Aside from Crash, everyone else is average and
lower.  The only reason I'd use this team is to give that feeling
of protagonistic victory.  Good for advanced players though.

*Washington:  Todd's good, so is Nate, and Dove is ok.  This is
a fairly well rounded team, but not my favorite.  I don't like
their uniforms either.  However, they hold a few advantages over
the other playable teams.  They don't have any real significantly
weak characters.  Good for average and up players.

*Lincoln: My favorite team to use.  They have Wheels, whom is the
best in the 400 Meter Race (he can top anyone, even those of 
Thornley.)  And Artie is strong, and Skip has nearly the exact
same stats as Artie, so you kind of have two leaders.  Knors is
a good backup for the 400 Meters, and Monty is really well-rounded.
They just look ugly. Great for anyone, especially beginners.

*Jefferson: My second favorite team to use, with my favorite 
uniforms.  Spreck has the lowest HP of all the leaders, but his 
stats are a bit better.  His teammates aren't too bad...but they
have disadvantages in certain events.  The fastest guy besides
Spreck is Milo, who has 140 HP, and that's only with 94 Speed.
But they're a good choice.  Good for average players.

*Thornley: I haven't really developed an opinion on them.  They
seem like robots to me, considering their speed and power.  If
these guys were playable, they'd probably be my favorite.
