---1. Version History---

Version 1.3 - Wow. It's been almost a year since I worked on this.
Format updates and rewritten sections are most of what I've done. A
little knew info here and there. Altogether though, an easier to read,
better guide than the last version.

Version 1.2 - Copyright info additions. Nothing for you to care about.

Version 1.1 - A few additions to credits. Nothing major.

Version 1.0 - This whole guide was created.

---3. About Madden Challenges---

Madden NFL 2000 was I believe the first Madden game, or at least the
first one on the Nintendo 64, to introduce Madden Challenges. These are
basically single game challenges to go along with the rest of the game.
Sure playing the games are fun, but it's all the more rewarding when
you complete a challenge like rushing for 250 yards with one player or
returning a kick for a touchdown. Madden Challenges add a lot more
depth to the Madden games, so I'm grateful for them, and pieced
together this FAQ/Challenge List to help out some people who are stuck
with the challenges and need some help.

---4. Level 1 Madden Challenges---

These are the easiest Madden challenges in the game. The majority of
you players should have no problem completing the challenges, and any
veteran of a Madden game should pretty much breeze though these. Many
of the challenges that they want you to do are simple tasks, such as
playing an exhibition game in a different stadium or require you to
beat a team under different circumstances (such as beating the Packers
in the snow at Lambeau Field). This said, if you can negotiate the menu
screens, you should have no problem at all with these challenges.

Other challenges have you trying to do easy tasks in a game, such as
throw no interceptions. You can easily complete this by not throwing
any passes in a short game (say three minute quarters). Some of these
may take some time, as they are somewhat based upon luck, such as the
thirty yard pass and the twenty yard run. Just put things at the
easiest difficulty for your best chances. For the runs, do a lot of
runs to the outside (Quick Toss, HB Sweep), and for the pass, look for
one on one coverage (singleback formation with four wide receiver works
well for this). I think I should stop now, and let you complete these
unchallenging challenges yourself.

1. Complete a 30 yard pass or longer
2. Complete a 20 yard run or longer
3. Score 21 points with a quarter length of 6 minutes or less
4. Hold your opponent to 7 points or less in a game
5. Throw 0 interceptions in a game
6. Kick a 40 yard field goal or longer
7. Kick a 40 yard punt or longer
8. 3 tackles or more by one player
9. Defeat Green Bay in the snow at Lambeau Field
10. Defeat San Francisco in the rain at 3Com Park
11. Create a player and use him in a game
12. Play an exhibition game with a quarter length other than 5 minutes
13. QB passes for 2 touchdowns or more
14. Sack the opposing quarterback
15. Play an exhibition game in a stadium other than the default one
16. Intercept at least one pass
17. Recover at least one fumble
18. 200 yards of total offense or more
19. Play and win one game of a tournament
20. Have a minimum of 3 members of your team catch at least one pass

---5. Level 2 Madden Challenges---

These challenges are a bit more difficult than the ones found in level
one. Most of the simple tasks that can be done just by reading the
instruction booklet are gone, although there's still a few, such as
challenges seven through nine as an example. Nothing is that difficult
yet, as you'll see by reading these. Some of these will require a
little time, and a lot involve winning specific games, which can become
a bit tedious. There's really not much point to winning a game in
season mode and then a game in franchise mode. Don't blame me though. I
didn't create the challenges.

1. Score 40 points or more with a quarter length of 6 minutes or less.
2. 100 yards rushing or greater by one player
3. 100 reception yards or greater by one player
4. QB passes for 300 yards or more
5. 3 field goals or more by one player
6. QB passes for 4 touchdowns or more
7. Play and win one franchise mode game
8. Play and win one season mode game without modified divisions
9. Play and win one season mode game with modified divisions
10. Play and win two games in a tournament with the same team
11. 6 receptions or greater by one player
12. Have a running back who rushes for 3 touchdowns or more
13. Hold opposing team to 150 yards total offense or less
14. QB rushes for one rushing touchdown or more
15. Commit no fumbles in a game
16. Do not allow your quarterback to be sacked in a game
17. Complete a 60 yard pass or longer
18. Play and win a Pro Bowl game as the NFC team
19. Play and win a Pro Bowl game as the AFC team
20. 2 touchdowns or more by one receiver

---6. Level 3 Challenges---

Things are starting to get tough now, and you'll have to start
investing more time into the game to accomplish these. Some of these
will be easy for those used to playing Madden games, but others aren't
as simple. Quite a few of these will require you to play a lot of
games, such as the ones that have you winning a Super Bowl or a
tournament.

There are quite a few tough challenges that require you to get a lot of
a stat or another, such as 150 rushing yards or eight extra points).
The best thing you can do to get these is play under fifteen minutes
quarters. Most of them can be beaten this way at least. A lot of these
ones are difficult by NFL standards, but in the game they are easier to
accomplish for the sheer fact that there's less time in the huddle and
more time on the playing field.

1. 150 yards rushing or greater by one player
2. 150 reception yards or greater by one player
3. QB passes for 400 yards or more
4. 3 sacks or more by one player
5. 2 interceptions or more by one player
6. Recover 2 fumbles or more
7. 5 successful field goals or more by one player
8. 3 knockdowns or more by one player
9. 3 tips or more by one player
10. Play and win a Super Bowl in franchise mode
11. Play and win a Super Bowl in season mode
12. Successfully kick 8 extra points or more
13. Play and win an 8 team tournament
14. Complete a 50 yard run or longer
15. Commit no penalties in a game
16. Break two different all time records or more in a game
17. Score 55 points or greater
18. 8 tackles or more by one player
19. 400 yards total offense or more
20. Have a running back rush for over 100 yards and 50 yards receiving

---7. Level 4 Madden Challenges---

Okay, here's where things will start to get a little bit tougher. Going
undefeated through a season and franchise is relatively easy. Just pick
a good team. The individual goals are a bit tougher, and you can
probably only get one per game, if that, as two hundred yards receiving
is not an easy feat. Getting six straight two-point conversions or more
is going to need some luck, although the FB Dive and Mike Alstott as
the Fullback will help immensely. Getting forty first downs can be
tough. For most of these, you want a long quarter length if possible,
as some are impossible with certain quarter lengths.

1. 200 yards rushing or greater by one player
2. 200 reception yards or greater by one player
3. QB who passes for 500 yards or more
4. Return a punt for a touchdown
5. Return an interception for a touchdown
6. 6 successful two point conversions or more
7. 25 completions or more by one player
8. Go undefeated and win a Super Bowl in one franchise mode season by
playing every game
9. Go undefeated and win a Super Bowl in one season mode season by
playing every game
10. QB who rushes for 75 yards or more
11. Have a minimum of 7 members of your team catch at least one pass
12. Win a 16 team tournament
13. 7 sacks or more by one player
14. 650 yards of total offense or more by one team
15. Have one receiver with 150 receiving yards or greater
16. Rush the ball 40 times or more with a quarter length of 6 minutes
or less
17. Rush for 100 yards or more with two different running backs
18. Win by a margin of 50 points or more
19. 40 first downs or more
20. Kick a punt of 55 yards or more

---8. Level 5 Madden Challenges---

Let's be blunt with this: The challenges listed here are insanely
difficult and not only involve skill, but a little luck. For example, I
once went a full season without returning a kick for a touchdown, but I
once returned two kicks in one game with the same player too.
Converting ten fourth down conversions is something that will take some
time, and may get frustrating. Some of these, you can help yourself by
adjusting the weather appropriately, such as putting the wind way up
for the 55 yard field goal task. All I can really say is look at the
challenges, adjust the settings as needed, and hope you have some luck
on your side.

1. Return a kick off for a touchdown
2. Have a QB with a pass average 30 yards or greater while throwing at
least 5 passes
3. Shut out the opposing team with a quarter length of 5 minutes
4. Pass for 200 yards or more with two quarterbacks
5. Have a running back of 20 yards or greater while rushing at least 3
times
6. 3 receivers with 100 yards or more receiving
7. 200 punt return yards or greater by one player
8. QB who rushes for 3 touchdowns or more
9. Score 80 points or greater
10. 200 kick off return yards or greater by one player
11. Complete a run of 80 yards or more
12. Convert 10 fourth down conversions or more
13. QB with a minimum of 150 passing yards and 100 yards rushing
14. Break 4 all time records or more in a game
15. Successfully kick a field goal of 55 yards or more
16. Have a QB with a 100 yards passing percentage while throwing a
minimum of 5 passes
17. Play and win a minimum of 4 Super Bowls with the same team in
franchise mode
18. RB with a minimum of 100 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing
19. Convert 10 third down conversions or more
20. 250 yards rushing or greater by one player

---9. Advice on Challenges---

Here are a few quick tips on some of the challenges. Nothing too
specific is in here. It's somewhat of a summary of all of what I said
above in list form.

-In order to accomplish the Madden challenges, you're going to need to
play a lot of games and do a lot of practicing.
-Patience is probably the one thing you need the most, as you can't
expect to do everything right away.
-Try and have fun playing some of the games and not worry about
specific challenges. You'll eventually get them
-You probably want to have a spare controller pack to save your
franchise and season, as you'll need them for some of the challenges.
-Learn how to adjust quarter length, weather, and wind to maximize your
chances of completing a challenge.
-Just have fun playing. It's a game, you know.

---10. Reader Challenges---

Do you have any challenges of your own? Send them in, as this section
needs to be built up a bit. I may add my own challenges sooner or
later, but I'd like to see some interest from different viewers of this
FAQ. You'll be given full credit for any challenges you submit, meaning
you'll get your name and email (unless say want otherwise) listed in
this guide. Next thing you know you'll be in Hollywood! Or maybe not.
Just send in some challenges for this section, and you can be
guaranteed I'll appreciate it.
