So is knowing when to switch to an audible if the opponents defense has matched the correct defense with your play. You don't want to waste downs so, use your audibles to get out of tough situations, How to Call A Play - - Scroll all of the different formations using LEFT and RIGHT. - Select a formation, and then press the A button. Once you have selected a formation you can choose from lists of plays inside that section of the play book. The formations will be labeled, what type they are on Offense and Defense. - Select a play by pressing B,A,C down or C right. The appropriate button will be in the lower left corner of the play border. - To flip the direction of a play, press the Z BUTTON. ** Audible List ** An audible is the option a QB has to change a play to a secret play at the line of scrimmage if he feels it is appropriate. He does this when the defense figures out or sets up correct to defend the play. To select an audible: - Press the desired type of play, B x 3 = Kneel down B x 2 = Special B x 1 = Special ------------------ A x 3 = Stop Clock A x 2 = ** A x 1 = ** ------------------ A x 1 = Run A x 2 = Short A x 3 = Left ------------------ Cd = Down C Cd x 1 = Pass Cd x 2 = Medium Cd x 3 = Middle ------------------ Cr = Right C Cr x 1 = --- Cr x 2 = Long Cr x 3 = Right ------------------ C up x 1 = --- C up x 2 = Bomb Zone C up x 3 = Sideline RT ------------------ --- or ** means empty. ++ Create the audible play using those code terms, it is best to memorize the terms, incase you don't have a manual at all times. %%%%%%%%%%%% NFL TOP 10 %%%%%%%%%%%% 1. Emmett Smith - RB 10. Ike Hilliard ****************** Offensive Strategy ****************** There are a couple different types of offensive strategies, you can just totally blow out the opposing team, or you can strike fast, and then hold them. In this section of the FAQ I will explain both. BLOW OUT STRATEGY ----------------- A. To blow out a team, you will have to have the right fire power for your type of offensive play. If you run the ball a lot, choose a team with a stronger running game. Then if you're a passer, choose a team with a passing game worthy of attention. These teams are good for the 2 different types of offenses: Rushing +=+=+=+ Lions - Barry Sanders - RB Steelers - Jerome Bettis - RB Broncos - Tyrell Davis - RB Passing +=+=+=+ Packers - Brett Farve - QB Broncos - John Elway - QB 49'ERS - Steve Young - QB Now keep in mind, that if you play a team with very strong defensive attributes, you won't be able to completely perfect your offense. So I would recommend that you choose a team like: 1.Cowboys 2.Packers 3.Broncos All of these teams have all star runners and passers. Not to mention they all have their share of the leagues better receivers. Pick a team like this and constantly mix up the plays to throw your opponent off. This is how you will blow out a team. Now, it looks like most of the teams with great offenses have prize defenses as well. The Packers for example, Reggie White, Leroy Butler, Santana Dotson. These are all-star defensive players. To perfect the art of blowing out a team you will have to have a defense that can hold the opponent to very low scores, which is not always easy. Once you score the first touchdown, kick the extra point. As your lead increases go for 2 point conversions. Here is a list of lead/2 point conversion opportunities. What to go for | Amount you lead by ---------------|------------------- 1 | 7 1 | 14 1 | 21 2 | 28 2 | 37 2 | 45 If you get by that point if you play decent defense there is no way that the opponent will catch you. Tips For the BO Offense: - Never ever give in on penaltys - Never give in to an opponent - When they say " Just let me score one tim " Sack his butt. - Don't get cocky, you'll end up slacking off. - Never let your opponent see what play is being called. B. STRIKE FAST AND HOLD This is by far a much tougher strategy on your defense than your offense. If you are playing as a mediocre team, jump out quick and stun the enemy, it may be your only chance of scoring a Touch Down. Now the only problem is your D still has to hold until you can score again, and if your on a bad team, you may never know when that is. So here are some tips for holding the opponent's offense at bay. - Always blitz - Never let up on the ball carrier, so he can't escape - When in pursuit, never stop, make one last dive at him - Never look away from the screen, you may miss a play - Shift your line to advantage the pass rusher - Block 2 at a time so your linemen can blitz ** Learning how to block two at a time can be very helpful to year pass rusher, it will also allow someone to always cover the running back. - Never control a CB at the beginning of the play, switch over once the ball is in the air. You don't want to get burned. This offense is very comparible to the present day Bucs. They only score a couple of TD's a game, but they always mantage to hold the opposing team just long enough to win. You can also learn how to use the clock to your advantage. If the clock is running down late in the fourth quarter, put more pressure on the opponent than usual, this will create tension in his awareness, because he will be worried about the clock. This will distract him long enough to make a crucial sack or stop. ++++++++++++++++ Defensive Strat. ++++++++++++++++ When your on defense always try to shift your line so that you can get a clean shot at sacking the CB, or at least rushing him into throwing an interception or an IP. Always bring pressure, even if it's a pass play, never let him have time, because if you give a good QB time, they are gonna make you pay for it. If you're a cornerback, and your receiver has been burning you all day, try blocking him at the beginning of the play. This may take some getting used to but it can really throw of the CPU. It's plays are based on timings, and if the receiver isn't there, he's going to thrown the ball anyways, then you can intercept it. Free Safety. This position can make or break your defense. You are the last line of defense for whatever gets through the main line, or if a receiver gets juked by his guy. Never have the safety blitz the passer unless you are controlling him and you know what your doing. If a rush play gets through, and your hitting the QB, who's gonna tackle him, you can't always assume the corner backs will. Who should I control? You should be the left LB. This way you can blitz, or atleast put pressure on, maybe stop a run play up the gut. Plus you have a clear view of the field, and the ball so you can switch players faster. The style of defense you run is up to you. But I would recommend that you follow these basic guidelines, so that you can become a better coach and/or player. ++++ Tips ++++ - Mix up your plays, use a variety, so they don't become obvious. - Always pay attention to which way the ball is going. - Hide your controller while you choose your play in vs. mode. - Follow play diagrams as closely as possible. - Always have a substitute for a crucial position. - Use your audibles to avoid being sacked. - Be careful that you don't over load the salary cap. - Master all of the controls before you try to get fancy. - Never look away from the screen, except on timeouts. ============== Cheats-Secrets ============== Enter these codes at the enter cheat option.
