BREGUET 1050 ALIZE

The BREGUET 1050 ALIZE is an ASW aircraft.

She flew her maiden flight on the 5th of october, 1956, powered by a Rolls-Royce turboprop. She was fitted with an american radar.
On the 15 of november, 1957, the French Navy Air Force took reception of its first Alize to test it.
One hundred aircraft were supposed to be delivered but only 75 of them reached the French Navy Air Force due to a budget cut.
The Indian Navy Air Force showed an interest in this aircraft and 12 of them were delivered to India.

All along her operational life, the Alyze was modified many times and revamped a few times. In 1977, it was decided that the Alize would serve until 1990 : then she became the ALM ( AL for Alize and M for Modern). Later on, she became the ALH after another revamping.

During 40 years of operation with the Navy, she took off from and landed on the French carriers Arromanches, Clemenceau and Foch.

The Alize was retired form the active service when the Hawkeye entered service at the Lann-Bihoué Navy camp.

Le modèle:

This model was designed with AD2000 , the author of which is Hervé DEVRED. I asked him once some information on MDL files and he sent me AD 2000 for test. To thank him for his trust, I decided to design an aircraft with this program.

After reading the tutorial and designing the UGLY100, the aircraft which the tutorial helps you to design, I felt confident enough to work on the Alize. Frequent e-mails to and from the author helped me to cope with the problems that you encounter when designing a model for the first time.

Thanks Mr. Devred for your patience and availability. Thanks again.

AD2000 is available on www.actpub.com.

You will find on this site other freeware aircraft designed with AD2000 .

Special features of the model:

This aircraft features moving parts:

  • The propoeller is rotating.
Above 1100 rpm, the propeller is represented by a transparent disk. Four darker sectors give the illusion of the rotation.
  • The landing gears can be retracted as on the full scale aircraft.
  • The landing gear well doors close after the full retraction of the landing gears.
  • The nose wheel is oriented according to the direction order.
  • The flaps feature 5 positions to fine tune your approach speed when landing on a carrier. The stall speed is 80 knots in a clean configuration and 33 knots with the flaps fully extended.
  • The rudder, the ailerons and the elevator are also moving.
  • The radar is lowered by the light command when the landing gears are up. It is lifted when you lower the gear or by switching the light off.
  • The hook is lowered by the spoiler command. It creates more drag.

A white strobe light is located on the top of the canopy.

Installation:

Installation of the Alize with FS98 or FS2000 is quite easy.

Create a Breguet 1050 Alize directory in the AIRCRAFT directory of your version of FS. Unzip the Breguet 1050 Alize file in it. If you are flying FS2000, that's it. If you are flying FS98, you need to replace the Breguet 1050 Alize.mdl file which is in the model subdirectory by the Breguet 1050 Alize.mdl file which is in the modelFS98 sub-directory.
